African Educators' Forum

Fostering Collaborative Relationships

and Knowledge Exchange Among

African and Canadian Scholars


Saturday March 26, 2011

Lecture hall of the Richardson Centre for

Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals (RCFFN),

University of Manitoba.


9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Registration and coffee at 8:00 a.m.


The forum is aimed at bringing together African professionals in academia and experts from various works of life, to network and explore avenues of common interest, for interaction and partnership, with their counterparts in Canada and across Africa. It is also expected to attract policy makers and other relevant stakeholders from Manitoba.


Among the important dignitaries attending this conference are: Professor Julius A. Okojie, the Executive Secretary of National University Commission, Abuja Nigeria. He is the conference special guest and will also deliver the keynote address.


Professor Bath Okolo, the Vice Chancellor and President of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, one of the premier and top class universities in Nigeria (visit the following link for more information: http://unn.edu.ng/preview/index.html. One of Prof Okolo's priorities is to upgrade and enhance the Computer Science research, training and teaching programs of the university.


Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, Chairman of Deans & HOD, Nasarawa State University, Nasarawa, Nigeria.


Katyen C. Jackden (Mrs.), Deputy High Commissioner, Nigerian High Commission, Ottawa


The President of the University of Manitoba will be represented by Dr. James Dean, Executive Director, Office of International Relations.


Leading the Manitoba government contingent is Honourable Christine Melnick, the Minister of Water Stewardship.


The Manitoba Deputy Minister for Education, Citizenship and Youth, Gerald Farthing. PhD.


The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Owerri is Professor Celestine O.E. Onwuliri is a Parasitologist by training. Prof. Onwuliri will be attending with two other staff, among them is Dr. D. O. Ohajianya, the HOD of Agricultural Economics department


From Ladoke Akintola University, we have Professor Abel Babalola Ogunwale, Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology. He is expected to attend with two other staff.
